Christians, we have 3 groups. One that shouts at homosexuals without bothering to look at “Christian” marriages that end up in divorce or sex outside of marriage…gay or straight. We set a poor example for the world to live by.
The second, “Christians” that believe in God but have little if no discipline. Their philosophy is to do good, be good, and inherit eternal life. They give up morals, values, and by reading this will sporadically claim I am driving people to hell because my standards aren’t “Christ-like.” You may see them at the casinos, bars, cigar shops, or placing money in their cuss jars.
Third, Christians attempting to look like Jesus by their morals, values, standards, love, and pursuit of holiness. We aren’t righteous compared to God but He tells us to try. Every Christian may think they look like Christ but good and nice doesn’t cut it. If there’s not radical faith then there won’t be radical results.
In closing: let’s not throw stones at people and let’s not accept everything as Christian because of its claim. Titles will destroy your life and will do nothing more than categorize an individual. God’s looking for radical, far from complacent, passionate, faithful individuals that spend more time pursuing Him. If you are living in a way that doesn’t represent Christ then keep His name out of your mouth. Revelation 3:15-16 says, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” This isn’t degrading, just God’s request. I’m far from what Jesus looks like but I will continue to pursue his righteousness, regardless of what I have to give up. I want to see Him, I want my life to show His power.
There were times in the New Testament that demons couldn’t be cast out and people couldn’t be healed, simply because the disciples didn’t have the faith to get it done. Jesus would reprimand them and then do it Himself. I don’t want Him to have to take it upon Himself on my behalf. If you love God, then you’ll look like Him. John 14:6 says, “If you love me, then you’ll keep my commandments.” It’s inspiring, difficult, and everlasting.
